Location - How to get to Modena and Reggio Emilia




The conference will be held in Modena (Aula Magna, Via dell'Università 4) on Thursday, February 21, and Saturday, February 23.
The conference venue is located in the city center (see map), and can be easily reached by foot or by bus (see timetable below).

On Friday, February 22, the conference will be held in Reggio Emilia (Aula Magna, Viale A. Allegri 9, see map).
A private bus service from Modena will be arranged: the bus will pick you up in Piazza Roma at 9.00 am, and will bring you back to Piazza Roma after the social dinner (around 10.30 - 11 pm). Further details will be provided on site.
Reggio Emilia can also be reached quite easily by train: in the case you prefer to use public transportation, we provide below some relevant information.

February 21 and 23: Modena, Aula Magna, via Università 4.

Directions from Modena railway station to the Conference venue

You can:
- take a cab (approximately 10 euros; Phone No. +39 059 374242)
- take a bus (price is 1,20 euros both on the bus and by ticket office near the platform):

no. 7 direction Gottardi platform 1 in front of the station: get off at the stop via Emilia Centro Posta
or
no. 11 direction Zodiaco platform 1 in front of the station: get off at the stop via Emilia Centro Posta

- go by foot: it takes around 15 min. (see map)


February 22: Reggio Emilia, Aula Magna, Caserma Zucchi, v.le Allegri 9.

Directions from the Reggio Emilia railway station to the Conference venue

You can:
- take a cab (approximately 10 euros; Phone No. +39 0522 452545)
- take a bus from the platform in front of the station, every 10 minutes:

no. 2, direction Sant'Ilario: get off after 3-5 minutes in viale Allegri Teatro Ariosto
no. 4, direction Coviolo: get off after 3-5 minutes in viale Allegri Teatro Ariosto
no. 9, direction Mctc: get off after 3-5 minutes in viale Allegri Teatro Ariosto

Ticket price is 1,20 euros both on the bus and by the paper shop into the station.

How to get to Modena and Reggio Emilia

By plane
The nearest airports are Bologna’s airport “Guglielmo Marconi” and Parma’s airport “Giuseppe Verdi”. Direct flights are available from the most important national and international (mostly European) airports. The airport of Bologna is linked to the railway station (and vice-versa) by a bus shuttle service departing every 20 minutes: see here (Phone No. +39 051/290290). For further information visit the site http://www.bologna-airport.it/uk/airport-and-services/to-e-from-the-airport/?IDFolder=977&LN=UK.

From the airport “Guglielmo Marconi” there are also nine direct connections by bus to the city of Modena every day. The bus leaves every two hours. Travel time is about 50 minutes (Phone No. 840.000.216 -only from Italy); for the timetable see here.

The airport of Parma is linked to the Parma railway station (and vice-versa) by the bus n. 6, that runs every hour from 6.30 to 20.00; more information and timetable here.
Parma is linked to Reggio Emilia by regional train that runs every hour (for further information see here).

Train/bus connections from these airports to Reggio Emilia and Modena vary and can take several hours.

By train
Modena and Reggio Emilia railway stations can be reached with Eurostar, Intercity, and regional trains from the most important Northern Italian cities (the Eurostar train “Frecciabianca” from Bologna to Modena Station takes 20 minutes and costs approximately 12 euros; the Eurostar train “Frecciabianca” or an Intercity train from Milano Centrale to Modena Station take approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes and cost between 30 and 40 euros).

By car
Modena and Reggio Emilia may be also reached by car via:

- Motorway A1 Autostrada del Sole, Milano-Bologna:

to Modena:
* if you come from Milano exit at Modena Nord and follow the signs to Modena Centro;
* if you come from Firenze-Bologna exit at Modena Sud and follow the signs to Modena Centro.
You can park at the NoviPark Parking, that is a paying car-park right to the city center (see map).

to Reggio Emilia: exit Reggio Emilia and follow the signs to Reggio Emilia Centro and Parcheggio Zucchi (a paying car-park right close to the Conference venue, see map);

- Via Emilia: Milan – Piacenza – Parma –Reggio Emilia – Modena – Bologna – Rimini.
- Highway 12 dell'Abetone e del Brennero: Bolzano – Trento – Verona – Modena – Lucca – Pisa.
