Test and Registration

For the academic year 2025/2026, the Department of Communication and Economics plans to exclusively grant access to the Bachelor's Degree programme in Digital Marketing through the TOLC-E test.

In accordance with Ministerial Decree 270/04, the Department of Communication and Economics is required to verify that students possess an adequate level of initial preparation at the time of enrolment.

This assessment of prior knowledge is not a prerequisite for enrolment for degree courses with open admission. However, it is legally mandatory for all undergraduate degree programmes and must therefore be completed by the student within the deadlines indicated below.

Failure to undergo the initial knowledge assessment, or receiving an unsatisfactory result, does not prevent enrolment. However, if any Additional Learning Requirements (Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi – OFA) are not fulfilled by the end of the first academic year, students will not be permitted to enrol in the second year of the course. Instead, they will have to re-enrol as repeating students in the first year.

For the academic year 2025/2026, the requirement to verify initial knowledge is considered successfully completed in certain cases, detailed on the individual Degree Programme pages under the "Assessment of initial prerequisite knowledge" section:

• Data Analysis for Business and Finance
• Marketing and Business Organization
• Communication Sciences

For the academic year 2024/2025, those enrolling in the following open-access degree programmes

• Data Analysis for Business and Finance
• Marketing and Business Organisation
• Communication Sciences

will have to take the test to assess the initial knowledge required.

The current regulatory framework (Art. 6, Requirements for admission to study courses, paragraph 1, DM 270/2004) requires all students starting a first-level degree course to possess or acquire adequate initial preparation. In line with this legislation, the assessment test is designed to check the level of initial knowledge required for a successful course of study.

The test is not selective and takes place once enrolled. 

If the test is not passed, an Additional Training Obligation (OFA) is assigned, to be completed within the first year of the course, according to the instructions published in the section "OFA (Additional Training Obligations)" on this page.

The essential initial knowledge assessment test is based on the contents indicated in the dedicated Syllabus, available at the bottom of this section.

Academic Year 2026/2027
In the academic year 2026/2027, the Additional Learning Requirement (OFA) will be assigned in specific cases, as detailed on the individual Degree Programme pages under the section "OFA (Additional Training Obligations)":

Academic Year 2025/2026

Exceptional extension of the deadline for fulfilling Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)
At its meeting on 1 October 2026, the Department Council approved an exceptional extension of the deadline for fulfilling Additional Learning Requirements (OFA), previously set for 30 September 2026. Students who had not fulfilled their OFA by that date may also do so through the November 2026 examination sessions for courses designated by their respective degree programmes as eligible for fulfilling these requirements.

Submission of the TOLC eligibility certificate
Students who took the TOLC after 22 December 2025 and achieved a qualifying result are reminded that they must send their eligibility certificate directly by email to the Registrar’s Office at segrstud.comunicazione.economia@unimore.it.
